How it works
Built on public statistics
Country data from the World Inequality Database, the European Central Bank and national statistics offices, combined into one model of 5.5 billion adults.
Honest about uncertainty
Every country has a data-quality score, and results show a model range. Where direct data is missing, we say so.
Private by design

Questions
How rich do you need to be to be in the global top 1%?
About USD 1,310,000 in net worth per adult. The top 10% starts at about USD 154,000, and the median adult in the world has about USD 10,800.
What counts as net worth?
Everything you own at today’s value — home, other property, bank deposits, shares, funds and pension savings — minus all your debt, such as mortgage, student loans and credit card balances.
Which income should I enter?
Your total yearly income before tax: wages, business income, pensions and benefits, plus interest, dividends and rent. The comparison uses a broad pre-tax income measure, so it is not the same as take-home pay.
Where do the numbers come from?
The model combines the World Inequality Database, the ECB Household Finance and Consumption Survey, Statistics Norway and other national statistics, covering 77 countries and 5.5 billion adults. The full methodology is public.
Is my data stored?
